FarSounder Expands Field of View
FarSounder is increasing its navigation sonars’ capabilities by broadening the field of view to up to 120 degrees. Their series of forward looking sonars currently provide users a 90 degree field of view out to 500m and 60 degree field of view out to 1000m.
FarSounder Acquires Japanese Patent

FarSounder Technology Used in Fishery Research
FarSounder is pleased to announce a collaborative research project using an application of its 3D sonar technology to increase sustainability and benefit the commercial fishing industry. The main focus of the project is to assess pelagic fish species such as menhaden and herring. The technology currently used in many fishery surveys is suitable for sampling bottom-dwelling species but not well-suited for accurately assessing pelagic species.

FarSounder Joins NOAA as a Trusted Node
FarSounder is the most recent company to join the International Hydrographic Organization’s Crowd-Sourced Bathymetry (CSB) initiative by becoming a “trusted node” with NOAA. This project enables mariners to voluntarily contribute seafloor depths measured from their vessels to NOAA’s data repository.

New Expedition Cruise Ships Order FarSounder-1000'S
FarSounder has received an order for four FarSounder-1000 Forward Looking Sonars from Wärtsilä Valmarine, a global supplier of ship navigation systems. The systems will be installed into new expedition cruise ships over the next couple of years.
Royal New Zealand Navy Adds FarSounder Sonar

FarSounder Sonar on New Hapag-Lloyd Expedition Ships
The Germany-based, luxury cruise operator, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is including FarSounder-1000’s on its two new expedition class of ships. FarSounder is contracted to provide their longest range 3D Forward Looking Sonar - FarSounder-1000 - to these ships. These unique sonars will provide real-time data on what is ahead of the ships as they explore. The vessels and passengers will enjoy a heightened level of security when traveling into unknown waters.
RRS Sir David Attenborough adds FarSounder-1000 3D Sonar
FarSounder's longest range sonar system FarSounder-1000 is slated to be the latest addition to the state-of-the-art equipment incorporated into the British Antarctic Survey's new Polar Research Vessel, the RRS Sir David Attenborough. Cammell Laird is currently constructing this more than $180 million polar research ship owned by Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) at the Cammell Laird Birkenhead shipyard, Port of Liverpool City Region, UK.

Royal Australian Navy to Upgrade Paluma Class Vessels with FarSounder Sonars
FarSounder, Inc. has been awarded a contract to provide four complete FarSounder-1000 systems plus spare parts for the upgrade of four Paluma class hydrographic Survey Motor Launches operated by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Seismic Asia Pacific Pty. Ltd. of Salisbury, Australia will be responsible for the purchase of the equipment and assist with the systems integration. Seismic Asia Pacific is the FarSounder dealer for this project with BAE Systems as the prime contractor.
FarSounder Introduces 3D Navigation Systems through the U.S. Navy in Support of Foreign Military Sales
FarSounder, Inc. has been awarded a contract to provide FarSounder-1000 systems for two US Navy transferred OSPREY Class Mine Hunter Coastal (MHC) Vessels. The systems were sold by FarSounder's dealer Voyager Maritime Alliance Group of Ft. Lauderdale, FL via their customer, VSE Corporation. VSE's delivery order is under a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract through the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) International Fleet Support Program.

High-Tech Small Businesses Receive Tibbetts Awards for Innovative and Outstanding Contributions

Arthur & Judith Obermayer to the 2015 SBIR Hall of Fame and present the Tibbetts Awards to 23 small businesses, six individuals, and three supporting organizations for their critical roles in research and development and for successfully driving innovation and creating new jobs through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.
